I got up early this summer morning to see how the sunrise developed over Yellowstone Lake – I took those, but as I started on my way to Old Faithful, this view at Duck Lake caught my breath and I had to stop. It was brilliant orange – I vaguely recall there was a fire somewhere that helped create this amazing shot.

We camped at Grant for part of one vacation – just trying out the various spots to call a temporary home. I noticed the gorgeous view going over the bridges and paid attention to how the light played on the scene overlooking Lake Yellowstone. Mornings gave us this monochromatic blue view that I fell in love with.

I know this isn’t the most gorgeous of photos I’ve posted here, but it’s one I probably will add to a scrapbook page. During a quick stop at Steamboat Point on my way to Old Faithful, I noticed this old sign that shows the wear of time and thermal heat.  Had to take a photo and the people chatting with me chuckled and thought it really was an effective sign, though if it were half leaning in the ground it might be even more effective.

Driving in from the East Gate in Yellowstone on a clear morning, you often can see the Teton Mountain Range off in the distance from a couple of pullouts on the west side of Sylvan Pass as you make your way down to the Lake. Not the ‘typical’ view of the Tetons, but one those who come in regularly from the East Gate know well.

As you climb up the road away from Yellowstone Lake in the fall, you may meet a wall of gold. This wall of gold. Unfortunately, there’s not an easy spot to pull off, so that means pulling off before or after and walking a bit to get here. It’s worth it, though – as the Thimbleberry leaves almost pulse with energy simply because they are so brilliant wearing their fall colors.
