Winter Colors

South Park was the color of pronghorns (aka antelope)

And the sky was just

luscious.

Time for a Smile

Last weekend my husband and I headed back up to Beaver Meadows Ranch Resort. It’s just over the hill from where my family had a cabin while growing up and it still feels like ‘home’ to me. I took the opportunity to take a few photos of people on the tubing hill. If you’re in some of these photos – here’s where you can find out how to get the digital files in exchange for a signed release.

I LOVED working on these photos – both while taking them and also in processing them – and found myself smiling right along with them. See if you find the same thing watching the slideshow of the simply joy of sliding down a hill.

I dug through winter photos today – still hoping to get a bit of winter here as it’s much too dry. While going through them, I realized I hadn’t processed this one of our dogs for stock. One of my absolute favorites of the two of them.

Frost appeared overnight, allowing me to capture the same cone I photographed (or at least I’m pretty sure it’s the same cone – if not, this is the one on the neighboring branch) last spring as a bloom and in summer.

Some winter mornings up here just beg you to bundle up and come outside to enjoy the scene. The frosty aspens glowed while the gentle breeze added the frost flakes to the blue sky scene.

No snow for us this Christmas, so I dug through the files and found four photos to stitch together for today’s Christmas photo.

What to do with all that Snow

With all the snow falling in the country, here’s an idea of what to do with it. First of all, pack the snow tightly (in a container of some sort – they use plywood boxes, I think for this, but a trash can would work). Then start carving using whatever tools work. A fun way to foster creativity. I have many more photos from the Breckenridge Snow Sculpture Championships to come.

This is our view on a snowy day (here it is on a clear morning). In all honesty, I wish we got more snow – I absolutely love  hunkering down next to a warm wood stove, heavy snow falling outside, and just working on various projects. The visible layers in the trees shifts as the snow increases or decreases, giving us a good idea of how much is coming down per hour. Hoping for more of these types of days this winter.
