I see them in the summer, but in the winter, I only seem to see their tracks.  This is one of the images I’m offering as Royalty Free.

Spring comes late to where we live in the mountains – allowing us to enjoy spring from the plains all the way to home from May through June. Once the lilac bush blooms and the Western Tiger Swallowtails arrive to dine on it, we slide quickly into summer up here. This photo hangs on my wall as a square gallery wrap and I can almost smell the lilac blossom – the smell of spring.

Digging back in my archives today to find a photo of a Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel I knew I had. Yesterday I watched the ‘chipmunks’ in the wood pile wondering if they were actual chipmunks or really ground squirrels. The difference seems to be the stripes (or lack of them) on the head. I’ll have to look again today. We very well might have both as both species live (and beg) in the same areas.
