This is why all the early blooming plants up here give their flowers some sort of extra ‘fur’ or covering for protection. Snow in May (and occasionally in June) happen up here. June 7 is the frost free date for gardening a bit lower in altitude – up here, I’d say it’s a few days past that.

That week each spring seems more magical and special than the fall colors – the brand new baby leaves slowly unfurl and it takes a few days for them to lose the creases from unpacking, as do we all.

The first snowstorm up here usually coincides with the tail end of the aspen leaves changing which gives us wonderful transition photos.
